Recap of Demo Blog webinar "Woningpas in action": How can a Digital Building Logbook provide tailor-made guidance?
On 13 November 2025, Demo-BLog hosted a dynamic online discussion about unlocking the power of Digital Building Logbooks (DBLs) for stimulating collaboration in community-driven decarbonisation projects. The session offered an in-depth look at how Woningpas in Flanders connects with neighbourhood support projects, the role of energy cooperatives in this, and how this could benefit other parties.
The event featured insights from:
- Tine Vande Casteele (VEKA), who outlined the context of the Demo-BLog Project and the collaboration that led to defining the demonstration on decarbonisation projects at the Flemish level.
- Elke Hoogmartens (ACA), who demonstrated how the DBL’s functionality was technically implemented within the project: Woningpas invites homeowners for personal guidance through neighbourhood initiatives with a focus on the group-purchase of heat pumps in heat pump ready dwellings (based on data available in Woningpas).
- Bram Van Dun (Campina Energy), who shared why energy cooperatives participated in the EU-project and how Demo-BLog optimised their operations.
- Lies Anseeuw (VEKA), who delved into another EU (LIFE)-project, FOSSTER, and made the connection to the Demo-BLog project. She focused on how to continue the project by bridging the gap between Woningpas and Energy Houses, local authorities and other cooperatives, to support citizens as a One Stop Shop.
To close the event, Jan Verheyen (VITO) moderated a Q&A session and solicited input from the audience by means of several statements regarding the role of Woningpas in facilitating the collaboration between homeowners and renovation supervision projects. He also touched upon several research themes that may provide input for a further physical event in spring 2026.
Key takeaways:
- 70% of webinar’s attendees said they find it important that Woningpas obtains an overview of financial support mechanisms tailored to specific renovation projects of homeowners.
- The same amount (70%) would like to use Woningpas to approach citizens about their renovation projects; however, only 30% of these stakeholders seem ready to automate such a process.
- The majority of the stakeholders (60%) also feel that it doesn’t make sense to have the entire process (i.e. the whole customer journey of renovation) supported by Woningpas.
- In discussing digitalising aspects of the Woningpas DBL, the majority of benefits are to be expected in planning an introductory meeting for how Woningpas provides renovation guidance, joining an information session, delivering the advice report after the appointment, and facilitating a quality survey afterwards.
