Digital Building Logbooks at the World Urban Forum 2026
Below is the description of the event as seen on the World Urban Forum website:
How can better building data unlock green finance and accelerate the decarbonisation of housing?
Reliable building data is essential for effective decarbonisation strategies in housing. It also provides clear insight into housing quality and supports access to green finance. Yet in many contexts, data remains incomplete or difficult to use, limiting both policy action and investment.
New technologies are improving how data is captured and managed through digital repositories. Tools such as Digital Building Logbooks are emerging as key enablers of the energy transition and circular material use. In parallel, the EU’s EPBD IV requires Member States to introduce Renovation Passports, providing decarbonisation roadmaps towards climate neutrality by 2050.
This session will draw on international and national experiences, including the GlobalABC Data Hub Network, to highlight practical ways to strengthen building data and digitalisation. It will explore how more robust and transparent building data can improve decision-making, reduce risk, and enable green finance, helping unlock private capital and scale investment in sustainable buildings.
